Iranian ambassador urges Russia to expand cybersecurity cooperation

Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali has called on Moscow to deepen cooperation in cybersecurity, saying the two countries are on the front line in confronting cyber threats.

While opening the Positive Hack Camp in Moscow, he noted that in recent years, both countries' critical infrastructure—including energy and water supply networks, transport, banking and communications systems—had been subjected to sophisticated attacks by state and non-state actors driven by political, economic or sabotage-related motives, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

"We need strategic planning, sustained investment in human capital and effective international cooperation," the ambassador added.

According to Jalali, cyberspace has become the primary arena for competition for influence, where traditional borders have effectively disappeared.

"Today, a shared understanding and collective determination to confront these risks are essential," he remarked.

Positive Hack Camp is an annual educational program on practical cybersecurity for young information security specialists from Russia and other countries.

The project is organised by Positive Technologies with the support of Russia's Ministry of Digital Development.
