Kazakhstan tightens fuel price monitoring

01 July 2026 20:11

Kazakhstan's Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition has expanded monitoring of fuel prices, increasing oversight of the country's gasoline, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) markets.

According to the agency, regional departments will inspect oil suppliers, fuel wholesalers, petrol stations and LPG filling stations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.

The directive was issued by Agency Chairman Marat Omarov during a meeting with officials from the central office and regional branches.

The agency said that if inspectors identify signs of violations of competition law, regional departments will be required to take antitrust enforcement measures.

It has also prepared a plan aimed at preventing market violations and helping stabilise the country's fuel market.
