Kyiv confirms end of defensive operations
The operation launched to defend Kyiv has been completed, but the threat of an attack on the city remains.
The comments came from the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Nikolai Zhirnov, on April 28, according to Korrespondent.net.
“A defensive operation is a method of conducting combat operations by operational grouping. The Kyiv defensive operation was aimed at preventing the enemy from entering the capital. The operation was carried out from February 24 to April 2. The goal of the operation has been achieved,” Zhirnov said.
He added that the enemy was stopped, suffered significant losses, its management of the logistics system was disrupted, and its personnel were demoralized.
“To be not encircled by the counter-offensive actions of the defence forces, the enemy was forced to retreat to the territory of Russia and Belarus. Based on these signs, the operation can be considered complete. But has the threat to Kyiv disappeared? Not at all. The enemy did not abandon his aggressive intentions. Therefore, we must be ready to continue to defend the capital,” Zhirnov assured.
