Kyiv, Odesa regions hit in renewed Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure photo
Russia continued its overnight campaign of drone and missile strikes against Ukraine, hitting civilian areas and residential buildings and leaving casualties and widespread damage, according to Ukrainian regional authorities.
The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, said that in the Vyshhorod district of Kyiv region, a Russian strike sparked a major fire in a two-storey private house. A woman born in 1949 was killed in the incident.
Three people were injured in the same attack: a man born in 1975, a woman born in 1976, and a girl born in 2009. All sustained shrapnel wounds. In the Obukhiv district, two additional private houses were damaged, with windows blown out and facades and roofs affected.
Kalashnyk added that, according to the latest information, Russian attacks were continuing.
At the same time, the southern districts of the Odesa region came under another large-scale overnight assault by strike drones. Damage was recorded to energy, port, transport, industrial, and residential infrastructure.
The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleg Kiper, reported that in one district, the strikes damaged a civilian dry cargo vessel and a warehouse facility. The roof of a two-storey residential building caught fire, and a garage was also damaged. All fires were quickly extinguished by units of the State Emergency Service.
In another district, the attack shattered windows and damaged roofs in 122 private houses, as well as glazing in three apartment buildings. Damage was also reported to an unoccupied warehouse.
No casualties were reported in the Odesa region. However, power supply disruptions were recorded in areas affected by the strikes. Critical infrastructure facilities were temporarily switched to backup power sources, including generators.
More broadly, renewed Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure led to the introduction of emergency power outages in several regions. Strikes on electricity grids caused damage that forced authorities to take urgent measures to stabilise the situation.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy said that rescue services and energy workers had already begun responding to the aftermath of the attacks and working to restore the electricity supply. Emergency outages will be lifted once stability in the power system is restored.
