Kyrgyz authorities seize weapon, ammunition from group plotting coup d'état PHOTO
Kyrgyz law enforcement seized weapons and ammunition from a group attempting to seize power violently.
During searches, they confiscated 70 firearms, 255,000 rounds of ammunition, 200 sets of police uniforms, and 38 bulletproof vests, Caliber.Az reports via Kyrgyz media.
The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan stated, "As a result of searches conducted at the residences and vehicles of certain members of a destructive group planning to seize power through mass riots and destabilize the socio-political situation in the country, 70 firearms, 255,000 rounds of ammunition, 200 sets of police uniforms, and 38 bulletproof vests were seized."
The committee also revealed that during the search, a military ID card belonging to a member of the Kyrgyz parliament, the Jogorku Kenesh, was found on one of the group members, leading to further investigation.
Yesterday, July 5, Kyrgyzstan's SCNS special services reported an attempted coup d'état in the country. The group was reportedly composed of individuals supporting criminal ideology and fervently advocating religious ideology.
