Kyrgyz-Chinese border checkpoints to temporarily close
The checkpoints on the Kyrgyzstan–China border will be temporarily closed in early October, the Border Guard Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan has announced.
According to the statement, the suspension of operations comes at the request of the Chinese side in connection with celebrations of China’s National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
The Torugart and Irkeshtam road checkpoints will remain closed from October 1 to 3, as well as on October 6. On October 4 and 5, the checkpoints will operate under a special regime, processing only freight transport and goods, while individuals will not be allowed to cross, the Committee said.
It added that normal operations at the border are scheduled to resume on October 7.
