Kyrgyzstan’s central bank gold reserves quadruple in value
The value of Kyrgyzstan’s National Bank gold reserves has increased fourfold amid rising global precious metal prices.
In November 2023, when the global gold price was below $2,000 per troy ounce—specifically $1,984—the National Bank’s reserves were valued at 127.1 billion soms (approximately $10.59 million), Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Prices continued to rise, and by December 1, 2025, the reserves were estimated at 520.7 billion soms (approximately $43.40 million), with the global gold price around $4,300 per ounce. Since then, the metal’s price has risen by another $200.
The central bank has not disclosed changes to the physical volume of the gold reserves. Gold remains a key component of the National Bank’s international reserves and, together with foreign currency, supports the stability of the som.
As of today, 1 Kyrgyz som is approximately 0.0194 Azerbaijani manat.
