Kyrgyzstan to send experts to Kazakhstan to assess condition of citizens injured in Azerbaijani plane crash
Kyrgyz Minister of Emergency Situations Boobek Azhikeev has said that Kyrgyzstan will send specialists to Kazakhstan on December 28 to assess the condition of Kyrgyz citizens affected by the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane near Aktau.
“Three Kyrgyz citizens are currently in the hospital, one of whom is in intensive care,” Azhikeev said in an interview with AKIpress news agency, Caliber.Az reports.
"Two of them have shown improvement, but one has suffered severe spinal injuries. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has issued a direct instruction to provide immediate assistance to our citizens and ensure the maximum involvement of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in their evacuation. We are working together with Kazakh Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Ravshanbek Sabirov and with the active participation of Kyrgyz Ambassador to Kazakhstan Dastan Dyushekeev, who is constantly updating us on the situation," Azhikeev said.
He added that on December 28, a military doctor of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the head of the department, and an official from the Ministry of Labour will be flying to Kazakhstan.
"The relatives of the injured individuals will arrive on December 28. A medical council was held on December 27, and based on their verdict, transporting the patients is currently inadvisable. It could do more harm to their health than good. Most likely, on December 28, our representatives and the relatives will discuss the situation with the injured people. We anticipate that they will remain for a longer period until they are stable enough for transportation," said Azhikeev.
"The Kazakh side has expressed its readiness to continue the treatment and transfer the injured people to our care once they reach a stable condition," he added.
The crash occurred on December 25, when an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, en route from Baku to Grozny, tragically crashed near Aktau. The plane was carrying 67 people, including 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals. Sadly, 38 people lost their lives in the crash, with 29 survivors.
