Lithuania boosts Ukraine’s defences with new shipment of military trucks
The Lithuanian Defence Ministry has said that a batch of military trucks and spare parts for armoured personnel carriers (APCs) was delivered to Ukraine.
The delivery included spare parts for M113 APCs. The latest shipment of military aid was sent to Ukraine in the middle of this week, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The exact number of vehicles and the cost of the shipment have not been disclosed. In January, Lithuania provided Ukraine with portable short-range air defence systems, missiles for those systems, and 4,500 drones worth 5 million euros ($5.2 million). In 2025, Vilnius plans to deliver air defence systems, ammunition, drones, and counter-drone systems to Kyiv.
Lithuania aims to expand its role in the international demining coalition, contribute to funding Ukraine's defence industry, and support the training and rehabilitation of Ukrainian military personnel.
Since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, Lithuania's financial aid to Ukraine has exceeded 1.5 billion euros ($1.55 billion), with 768 million euros ($796 million) allocated for military assistance. Vilnius has committed to annually dedicating 0.25 per cent of its GDP, roughly 190 million euros ($197 million), to Ukraine's defence and security needs.
