Lithuania, Turkiye sign accord on Bayraktar drones purchase
Officials from Lithuania and Turkiye signed an agreement in Ankara on June 1 allowing Lithuania to buy Bayraktar combat drones.
The protocol of intent to purchase Turkish weapons was signed by the Lithuanian deputy defence minister and the head of the Turkish Defence Industry Agency, Lithuania's leading news website Delfi reports.
"We have signed an agreement. This means a green light for further purchases at the political level," the Lithuanian deputy defence minister said.
Lithuania will buy such an unmanned aerial vehicle and other equipment with money raised by residents as part of the Laisves TV initiative to transfer it to Ukraine, which is fighting the Russian invasion, and is also considering buying an unmanned system itself, the report adds.
