Lithuanian president’s plane delays landing due to suspected drone
A Spartan aircraft carrying Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda was temporarily unable to land at Vilnius Airport due to reports of a possible unknown drone in the area, said the presidential spokesperson Tomas Beržinskas.
“As the plane approached Vilnius Airport, information was received about a drone, making landing temporarily unsafe. The pilots took all necessary safety measures and landed shortly afterward,” Beržinskas said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Lithuanian media.
The air navigation company Oro Navigacija added that the drone alert over the Lepkalnis area came from the aviation security service Lietuvos oro uostas.
“Safety procedures were then activated: flights were briefly suspended, and operations resumed after it was confirmed there was no threat. We are working with other agencies to identify which drone disrupted air traffic,” the company said.
