Mango founder’s son steps down as vice-president amid murder investigation

26 May 2026 15:43

The son of the founder of the Catalan fashion company Mango has issued an open letter to employees after being released on bail in connection with the alleged murder of his father, Isak Andic.

Jonathan Andic, the eldest of the Andic children, informed staff that he is stepping down from his role as vice-president of the company founded by his father. His decision comes as he remains under investigation over suspicions that he may have been involved in Isak Andic’s death, as per Euronews.

Despite relinquishing the vice-presidency, Jonathan indicated that he intends to continue overseeing his broader interests. In the letter addressed to employees, he stated that he will maintain his “family, social and business projects.”

Isak Andic, a Turkish-Catalan businessman, died in December 2024 after falling—or possibly being pushed—down a 100-metre embankment along a route leading to the Salnitre caves in Collbató, located on the southern side of the Montserrat mountain range near Barcelona. The circumstances of his death remain under judicial investigation.

Jonathan Andic, together with his younger sisters Sarah and Judith Andic Raig, controls 95% of Mango through the family conglomerate Punta Na Holding. The holding company, headquartered on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona, includes several businesses as well as a private equity fund jointly managed by the siblings. While Jonathan is stepping away from the vice-presidency, a position without executive responsibilities, he is not relinquishing his ownership stake or other corporate roles.

In his statement, Jonathan rejected the allegations against him, writing: “I write these words with sincerity and humility, from the pain, helplessness and frustration of finding myself faced with a narrative of alleged guilt that does not correspond to reality,” and describing the situation as “[I must] live with the gravest, most unjust and unfounded accusation that can be levelled at a person.”

Jonathan Andic was released on bail set at one million euros following his arrest and testimony before Judge Raquel Nieto in Martorell, who is overseeing the case. His legal team has announced plans to appeal the remand order related to the alleged parricide before Thursday, May 28.
