Media: Armenians fear former presidents return to power
Armenians are afraid of former presidents- Kocharyan and Sargsyan's return to power.
Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper has published an article claiming that Armenia had great opportunities for development, but instead, relatives and friends of all former Armenian presidents got rich, Caliber.Az reports.
"A significant part of the Armenian society, seeing the disasters that have befallen Armenia and Karabakh, although it opposes the foreign and domestic policies of the current authorities, but does not want to take to the streets to demand resignation. The reason is the fear of the return of the "former".
The term "former" is associated with two former presidents - Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan. We had more opportunities for development, but instead, relatives and friends of all former presidents of Armenia got rich. Therefore, to a certain extent, one can understand the people at whose expense these people got rich and who do not want the former ones to return. Finally, Nikol as a person and as a phenomenon did not just appear in Armenia, he was "born" and nurtured by his predecessors, turned into a political factor, an actor.
Nikol's appearance and failure is the failure of all of us. All of them and, first of all, all former presidents of Armenia have lost. And in order for them to contribute to Pashinyan's removal from power, they should speak openly, give guarantees that after his departure they will not come to power either in the person of themselves or in the person of their sons or sons-in-law," the article says.
