Media: Ukraine’s top military commander sends parents to Moscow for treatment
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, General Oleksandr Syrsky, sent his parents to Moscow for medical treatment.
According to the Telegram channel SHOT, the general reestablished contact with his parents following reports of his father’s serious health condition. Syrsky’s 86-year-old father, Stanislav Prokofievich, has been battling a brain disease since April of this year, which worsened after a bout with coronavirus.
Initially, the elderly man was treated in Vladimir (where the family lived), but doctors there were unable to help, so the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief sent his parents to the Moscow region for treatment and rehabilitation. Syrsky senior is recovering in a private room, where he stays with his wife, who is accompanying him. The month-long treatment for the general’s father cost approximately 1 million rubles (about $12,700) — roughly the amount he transferred to Russia.
In recent years, family relations were almost severed due to the “special military operation” and differing views on the conflict. This became especially pronounced after Alexander Syrsky was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2024. The family has taken a pro-Russian stance, with his parents regularly participating in the “Immortal Regiment” marches.
