Iran says oil operations continue on Khark Island despite attacks
Iran says oil production and related operations on Khark Island have continued despite repeated bombardments amid fighting in the region.
A senior Iranian oil industry official said oil production had not stopped “for a single minute” despite attacks on the strategically important island, a major hub for Iran’s oil exports, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
He said workers were continuing repairs and modernisation of oil storage tanks, while work was also under way to rebuild berths and complete previously launched projects.
None of the projects had been suspended, he said, adding that some were between 20% and 30% complete.
Khark Island has been repeatedly targeted during the fighting. Earlier, US President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on the Truth Social platform depicting industrial facilities on the island being hit by missiles.
