Boat crashes into rocks in Caspian Sea, killing two near Aktau VIDEO

Two people have died after a pleasure boat carrying seven people crashed into rocks in the Caspian Sea off the coast of Aktau in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region, Tass reports.

Five other people were rescued and taken to hospital with various injuries, the regional emergency department said.

The incident happened at about 23:00 local time on August 30.

Search and rescue teams recovered the bodies of two men from the water, officials said.

Police have opened a criminal investigation into an alleged violation of maritime or river transport safety rules.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
