Iran vows decisive response to US strike on Larak Island
Iran has vowed to respond decisively to a US strike on Larak Island, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on August 31, according to Iranian media.
“The US attack on Larak Island will receive a decisive response,” Gharibabadi said.
He added that foreign forces “must be driven out of our region”.
Earlier, at least two people were killed and two others injured in a US drone strike on Iran’s Larak Island, Iranian news agency Tasnim reported.
The report said the island was targeted by US drones, while Iranian authorities have yet to comment on the incident.
US Central Command confirmed that American forces had carried out limited, targeted action against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces, saying the strikes were aimed at preventing the IRGC from laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
