Media: Hamas likely to reject Trump's peace plan for Gaza
Hamas is likely to reject U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip, The Jerusalem Post reports, citing a senior Hamas official.
The official said the plan “serves Israel’s interests” and “ignores the interests of the Palestinian people.”
He added that Hamas rejects the disarmament and surrender of weapons stipulated in the plan, as well as any presence of an “international stabilisation force” in the enclave.
The Palestinian representative further stressed that Hamas will not agree to the immediate release of remaining hostages, describing them as the movement’s “only bargaining chip.”
A day earlier, a representative of the Islamic Jihad militant group told Palestinian media that Hamas intends to meet with other Palestinian factions to coordinate a joint response to the plan, noting that “it concerns not only Hamas, but the entire Palestinian people,” according to the outlet.
As previously reported, Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye have urged Hamas to accept Trump’s plan.
On September 29 and 30, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad, and Turkish intelligence director Ibrahim Kalin held talks with Hamas leaders.
