Media: Terrorists blow up gas pipeline in western Pakistan
Terrorists blew up a gas pipeline in the city of Harnai in western Pakistan, partially disrupting gas supply to the western province of Balochistan and its capital city Quetta, The Express Tribune reports, citing the energy company and bomb disposal experts.
The blast damaged a section of pipeline owned by the local Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). A company spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that teams on site had shut off gas and extinguished the fire, though the pipeline is completely out of service.
Bomb disposal officials said the attack involved an explosive device planted under a roughly 45-cm-diameter pipe, destroying the section of the pipeline.
The explosion sparked a large fire, causing panic among residents. The company said repairs will take 12–24 hours and will begin once authorities grant clearance. Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.
