MFA spokesperson: Russia actively reviewing proposal to join Board of Peace
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has confirmed that the ministry is actively studying a proposal for Russia's potential accession to the newly established Board of Peace for Gaza, an initiative launched by US President Donald Trump.
Zakharova stated that the issue is currently under review, but did not provide a timeline for any decision, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
A reminder that earlier in the day, on January 22 President Trump signed the charter in Davos with a number of presidents and leaders of other countries, creating the "Board of Peace," a body aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Trump described the signing as a "milestone" and a "very exciting day, long in the making."
Meanwhile, in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Kremlin on the same day. During their discussions, Putin reaffirmed Russia's willingness to provide significant financial assistance through the "Board of Peace," stressing that the funds would be directed primarily to aid the Palestinian people.
