Moldova may refuse Russian gas supplies
Moldova is looking for alternatives to supplies of natural gas from Russia.
The country's government is ready to repurchase gas on the spot market, but this could not be a long-term option, RBC-Ukraine quotes Moldovan Prime Minister, Natalia Gavrilita, as saying.
According to her, Moldova has made a request to connect to the world market and a clear answer was still pending.
“We haven’t received an answer yet. I made a request. We are waiting for a response, and we will see what happens on May 1,” Gavrilita said.
“We have certain alternatives. As in October, we can have access to the natural gas spot market. Now we are in a period when consumption [of gas] is lower, but here we are also talking about world prices and the continuity of supply in the medium and long term,” the head of government said.
