Montenegrin PM: Country has been ruled by drug cartels and smugglers for 30 years
Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazović said at a session of the Parliament on the credibility of his cabinet that the country has been ruled for 30 years by drug cartels and cigarette smugglers.
"Dear citizens of Montenegro and deputies, if the government of Dritan Abazović falls today, there will be facts that must be remembered. They will be useful to you in the coming period, to assemble the puzzle and see how organized crime, drug cartels, and cigarette smugglers rule this state for 30 years," Gazeta.ru quotes him as saying.
It is noted that the vote was initiated by the former ruling Socialist Party headed by Milo Dukanovic, as well as its partners because of the Cabinet's failure to fulfill its commitments to bring the country closer to EU membership. At the same time, 68 out of 81 deputies supported the vote.
However, according to Prime Minister Abazović, the real reasons are the fight against crime and corruption and the signing of an agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church.
