Montenegro, Czech Republic sign defence cooperation agreement
Montenegro and the Czech Republic have signed an intergovernmental agreement on defence cooperation, marking a step toward strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing military capabilities.
The agreement was concluded during an official visit by Dragan Krapović to the Czech Republic, where he held talks with his counterpart Jaromír Zůna. Both sides reaffirmed the strong state of their relations and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation further.
According to RTCG, the agreement establishes a legal framework for expanding collaboration in defence and advancing the modernisation of both countries’ armed forces.
The document also underscores Montenegro’s commitment to aligning its defence system with NATO standards, reflecting its broader strategic orientation.
During the visit, Krapović expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic for its continued support of Montenegro’s European integration efforts. He stressed that membership in the European Union remains a central foreign policy priority for Podgorica.
In addition to defence cooperation, the discussions covered security challenges in the Western Balkans. Both sides highlighted the importance of maintaining regional stability and reaffirmed their support for continued Euro-Atlantic integration across the region.
