NATO justifies Ukraine’s deep strikes into Russia
Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Rob Bauer has said that allowing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike deep within Russian territory using Western long-range weaponry is justified from a military perspective.
“Under the provisions governing armed conflicts, any country that has been attacked has the right to self-defence, which is not restricted by its national borders,” he said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"From a military standpoint, there are compelling reasons to do this—to weaken the enemy, disrupt its logistics, and impede the supply of fuel and ammunition to the frontlines. It is important to halt these actions whenever possible," he said.
Bauer emphasised that the countries supplying weapons to Kyiv also have the right to set certain limitations on their use, as they feel responsible for the armaments.
This responsibility often leads to political discussions. Earlier, US President Joe Biden responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin's warning about the consequences of lifting the restriction on Kyiv’s strikes deep into Russia. Biden remarked that he does not give much thought to the Russian leader.
