North Korea prepares major military parade for 80th anniversary of Workers’ Party
North Korea is intensively preparing for a large-scale military parade in October, marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party, Yonhap reports.
Since early July, military columns, equipment, and mobile launcher transporters have been observed at the parade grounds near Pyongyang’s Mirim Airport, indicating a high level of preparation.
Analysts estimate that the upcoming parade could surpass previous events, including the 2023 parade celebrating the 75th anniversary of North Korea’s founding. Foreign dignitaries are expected to attend, including Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who has previously expressed intentions to deepen high-level exchanges with Pyongyang.
The parade will not only commemorate the party’s milestone but also serve as a display of military strength and diplomatic ambitions. Experts believe the event could be used to bolster North Korea’s international image and showcase new weapons systems.
