US intel chief blames media for undermining Trump’s peace efforts
US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has criticised several media outlets, claiming their reporting reflects NATO and the European Union’s desire to prolong the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“Deep State warmongers and their Propaganda Media are again trying to undermine President Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Ukraine—and indeed Europe—by falsely claiming that the ‘U.S. intelligence community’ agrees to and supports EU/NATO viewpoint that Russia’s aim is to invade/conquer Europe (in order to gin up support for their pro-war policies),” Caliber.Az quotes Gabbard as saying in a post on X.
“The truth is that ‘US intelligence’ assesses that Russia does not even have the capability to conquer and occupy Ukraine, what to speak of ‘invading and occupying’ Europe,” she wrote.
The statement was a direct rebuttal to a Reuters report published the same day, citing unnamed U.S. intelligence sources who assessed that Vladimir Putin's war aims remain unchanged and extend beyond Ukraine, potentially creating buffer zones against NATO. Gabbard dismissed this as misinformation pushed by pro-war elements within Europe and entrenched U.S. interests opposed to Trump's diplomatic push, including ongoing Miami talks between U.S. envoys (Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner) and Russian representative Kirill Dmitriev.
