North Korean leader inspects munitions factory, praises modernisation
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un conducted an inspection of a key munitions production facility on June 13, where he reviewed the progress of weapons manufacturing, capacity expansion, and modernisation efforts carried out in the first half of 2025.
During the visit, Kim toured several production areas including pressing, spinning, and assembly workshops. He was briefed in detail on the facility’s current production of shells and its recent advancements aimed at strengthening the country’s military capabilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing North Korean state-run media.
Kim expressed strong satisfaction with what he described as the “patriotic spirit and high enthusiasm” of the plant’s workers. He commended their commitment to innovation and their efforts to increase output as part of nationwide preparations to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the upcoming Ninth Party Congress.
Highlighting the enterprise’s progress, Kim lauded its successful self-modernisation, particularly the comprehensive relocation and rational reorganisation of production lines. He noted that the upgrades were in line with the Party Central Committee’s strategic plan to elevate North Korea’s defence industry to a “world-class level.”
