WSJ: US proposes 30-day nuclear talks with Iran under strict new terms
The United States is demanding sweeping restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program as part of a proposed framework agreement that could open the way for 30 days of detailed negotiations between Washington and Tehran, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
Under the proposed framework, negotiations on a final agreement would begin if Tehran accepts the initial US terms.
According to the report, Washington is insisting on a 20-year moratorium on uranium enrichment and the transfer of all enriched nuclear material accumulated by Iran.
The United States is also seeking formal assurances from Tehran that it will abandon any pursuit of nuclear weapons.
Among the key US demands is the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, Natanz Nuclear Facility and Isfahan Nuclear Technology Center, which were targeted in US strikes in June 2025.
In addition, Washington reportedly wants a ban on underground nuclear activities and expanded inspection rights that would allow for sanctions in the event of violations.
