Over 4,300 people renounce Russian citizenship in 2022

A total of 4,306 people renounced Russian citizenship in 2022, which is the highest number in three years.

The announcement came from the Russian Foreign Ministry's Press and Information Department, RBC reports.

According to the ministry, the number of those who renounced Russian citizenship in 2020 was 3,877, in 2021 - 4,055, and 4,356 people - in 2019.

The ministry also noted that only 40 people within Russia renounced their citizenship last year.
