Putin orders establishment of strategic security buffer zone along Ukraine border
On May 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the decision to establish a security buffer zone along the border between Russia and Ukraine.
Speaking during a video conference with government officials, Putin stated that the Russian Armed Forces are currently working to implement this measure, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“The decision has been made to create the necessary security buffer zone along the borders. Our Armed Forces are now addressing this task,” the Russian leader said.
Putin also highlighted ongoing military operations, saying Russian troops continue to target Ukrainian military positions.
He emphasised the need to consider the situation in border regions and called for efforts to restore and rebuild all damaged infrastructure. This includes assisting displaced residents in returning to their homes where conditions permit.
The president urged support for residents to return and rebuild, focusing on restoring transport and other infrastructure, as well as reviving industrial and agricultural enterprises. He also called for backing businesses and workers in the affected areas.
