Iran warns Israel against strike, vows harsh response to any attack
Iran will consider the United States complicit in any Israeli strike on its nuclear facilities and will hold Washington responsible, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned on May 22.
Araghchi issued the warning in a letter addressed to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
The letter stated that Iran is cautioning Israel against "any reckless actions." Araghchi stressed that any threats or violations would be met with “a firm and decisive response.”
The Iranian foreign minister further underlined that in the event of an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, Tehran holds the conviction that the US government would be considered a co-participant and would bear legal responsibility for such an action.
"In light of the repeated threats, Iran will be forced to take a series of measures to protect its nuclear facilities, which will be reported to the IAEA," Araghchi added.
He also emphasised that Iran’s nuclear program remains under full supervision by the IAEA, and that none of the agency’s reports have ever indicated a deviation from its peaceful nature.
