Overchuk highlights prospects for cruise shipping in Caspian Sea
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk has valued the prospects of launching cruise shipping in the Caspian Sea, noting its implementation will contribute to further expansion of tourism cooperation in the region.
Speaking at the 24th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IGC), held in Zangilan, he said the initiative could create new opportunities for tourists to visit seaports along the Caspian littoral states, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“The organisation of cruise shipping in the Caspian basin is of great importance for the development of both economic and humanitarian ties,” he noted.
Overchuk also addressed the cooperation in the sanitary and epidemiological sphere, highlighting its importance.
He made it clear that the two countries are implementing joint projects aimed at reducing the risks of the spread of endemic and infectious diseases.
“Within the framework of this cooperation, work is underway to establish a regional system for responding to emergency epidemiological situations, and the Russian side is ready to further expand cooperation with Azerbaijan in this area,” Overchuk added.
