Pakistan’s Embassy in Baku marks Azerbaijan’s Remembrance Day
The Embassy of Pakistan in Baku has observed Remembrance Day in Azerbaijan.
According to Caliber.Az, the embassy announced the commemoration in a message shared on its official X account.
"Together with our Azerbaijani brothers and sisters, we commemorate the Day of Remembrance. We honour, with deepest respect, the memory of the martyrs who will forever be remembered for their ultimate sacrifice for the liberation of Karabakh," the post stated.
Remembrance Day is marked each year in Azerbaijan following a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on December 2, 2020, to honour the servicemen who sacrificed their lives defending the country’s territorial integrity during the Patriotic War.
On September 27, 2020, under the command of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched counter-offensive operations along the entire frontline to repel military provocations and protect the civilian population.
The 44-day Patriotic War ended with Azerbaijan’s decisive victory, during which 2,908 Azerbaijani servicemen became martyrs.
Later, on September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan carried out an anti-terrorist operation in the Karabakh economic region aimed at stopping large-scale provocations, eliminating the remaining Armenian armed formations, and re-establishing constitutional order. Lasting 23 hours and 43 minutes, the operation was conducted with high professionalism, achieving all planned objectives: dismantling the illegal Karabakh junta regime and detaining its key leaders. During the operation, 192 Azerbaijani servicemen were killed.
Through both the Patriotic War and the 2023 anti-terrorist operation, Azerbaijan succeeded in liberating its occupied territories and fully restoring state sovereignty and constitutional order across its lands.
Work continues in the liberated regions on reconstruction and rehabilitation projects, while steps are being taken to ensure the safe return of former residents to their homes.
