Pakistan security forces eliminate 10 militants in targeted operations across Balochistan

30 April 2025 14:49

Pakistan’s security forces have killed 10 militants in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Balochistan’s Kech and Ziarat districts, as part of a renewed crackdown on militant groups operating in the province.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation was carried out near Turbat in the Kech district, Caliber.Az reports, citing Pakistani media.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding militant presence, the troops launched an operation in the area.

“During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khawarij location, as a result of which, three terrorists were sent to hell,” the ISPR said. A heavy exchange of fire took place between the security forces and armed militants.

Security personnel recovered weapons and ammunition from the slain militants, who, according to the ISPR, were involved in multiple attacks targeting security forces and civilians.

“A sanitisation operation was conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the statement added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for their success in Kech. In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, he praised the professionalism and bravery displayed by the troops and reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism.

“The terrorists are enemies of peace in Balochistan and opponents of the province’s prosperity,” he said, adding that the government would continue on the path of progress and development. He also emphasized that the nation stands united behind its security forces in defence of the country.

In a separate incident, seven more militants were killed in another intelligence-based operation conducted in the Choteer area of Ziarat district.

Officials reported that the targeted operation took place in the area between Choteer and Sanjavi during the night of April 28 and the early hours of April 29. Militants hiding in the area opened fire on the advancing security forces, who took tactical positions and retaliated.

“A heavy exchange of fire continued for two hours, during which the militants also used hand grenades,” an official stated. Once the fighting ended, seven bodies were recovered from the site.

Ziarat Deputy Commissioner Zakaullah Durrani confirmed the fatalities and said the bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ziarat by Levies personnel.

He also noted that residents had earlier blocked the Sanjavi-Ziarat road in protest against the growing militant presence in the region, disrupting all traffic. Initial attempts by the assistant commissioner to negotiate with the protesters failed.

However, following further talks led by Deputy Commissioner Durrani, the protesters agreed to lift the blockade, and traffic was restored in the afternoon.
