Pakistan urges Muslim bloc to take concrete action after Israeli strike on Doha

16 September 2025 15:09

Pakistan has called on the Muslim world to move beyond rhetoric and take concrete measures in response to Israel’s unprecedented strike on Qatari soil, warning that words alone will not deter further actions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, speaking to Al Jazeera, emphasised that Pakistan, as part of the Ummah, or global community of Muslim believers, “will discharge its duty," Caliber.Az reports.

“Pakistan, as part of the Ummah… will discharge its duty,” he said, stressing that Islamabad sees its nuclear arsenal solely as a deterrent. “We have no intention of using it; it is only a deterrence.”

Dar highlighted Pakistan’s conventional military capabilities, adding, “Pakistan has a very large, known, very effective army, very effective air force, very effective navy … We have proved that we can beat even conventionally, if challenged.”

Addressing Israel’s attack on Qatar, Dar described it as “totally baseless” and “rogue,” noting that Qatar had been mediating peace talks for Gaza alongside the United States and Egypt at the time.

The Pakistani diplomat also touched on the broader humanitarian crisis, urging immediate international action.

“Food has been weaponized, over 60,000 people have died in the last two years, and 160,000 have been injured, including women and children. The time for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire is now, alongside an unhindered flow of humanitarian assistance,” he said.

Dar added that discussions within the Arab League had considered “some sort of combined security force” and reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to support the Muslim world diplomatically, financially, and legally if needed.

He concluded by calling for dialogue and diplomacy as the “best answer to complex situations,” pointing out that even non-Muslim countries were increasingly expressing support for Muslims suffering in Gaza.
