Pashinyan defends decision to stay silent on Zelenskyy’s comments
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has explained his decision not to respond publicly to remarks made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a recent European Political Community (EPC) summit.
Pashinyan said he does not believe it is necessary to react to every statement made by participants at such international forums, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“I do not think that I should censor participating countries or in any way respond to it,” he said.
Pashinyan emphasized that the European Political Community summit is a multilateral platform where all participating states are free to express their positions.
“The place where the European Political Community summit is held does not matter; this event is just as much mine as it is of our other partners. It is a multilateral platform where people express their opinion,” he added.
The comments come after Moscow expressed dissatisfaction with Zelenskyy’s statements at the summit, which were described as anti-Russian, and had reportedly expected a reaction from Armenian authorities. However, Yerevan opted not to engage in public exchanges on the matter.
