Pentagon names 188 firms tied to China’s military-industrial complex
The US Department of Defence has added 188 entities to a list of organisations that Washington believes are connected to China’s military-industrial complex.
According to the Pentagon, the companies operate either directly or indirectly within the United States.
“After the Department conducted its due diligence, it identified 188 entities that meet the statutory requirements for inclusion on the most recent 1260H List,” the Pentagon said in a statement.
The department added that the move was taken under the framework of the National Defence Authorisation Act.
The 1260H List, also known as the Chinese Military Companies (CMC) List, is a publicly released roster maintained by the US Department of Defence (DoD) that identifies entities determined to be "Chinese military companies" operating directly or indirectly in the United States.
Designation on the list is based on connections to the Chinese military or defence-industrial base and can trigger downstream US restrictions, such as procurement bans for DoD contracts and heightened scrutiny under other export control or investment regimes.
