Poland discovers fourth tunnel on Belarus border, 180 migrants detained PHOTO
Polish authorities have uncovered a new tunnel along the Poland-Belarus border through which more than 180 migrants illegally crossed on December 11.
According to RMF24, citing the border guard service, a tunnel several dozen meters long was found near Narewka in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. The entrance, hidden in the forest, was located about 50 meters from the Belarusian side of the border, while the exit was just 10 meters from the barrier on the Polish side. The tunnel, approximately 1.5 meters high, allowed a large group of people to move quickly across the border.
On the same day, 180 migrants were apprehended, 130 of whom were detained by law enforcement. Searches continue for the remaining individuals who crossed the border illegally. Among those detained were citizens of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and other countries.
Border guards also detained two smugglers — a 69-year-old Pole and a 49-year-old Lithuanian — who had come to pick up the migrants. This is already the fourth tunnel discovered along the Poland-Belarus border this year.
