Poland, Estonia to sign new defence cooperation pact in May
Poland and Estonia are preparing to sign a new agreement on security guarantees and defence cooperation in May, as part of efforts to strengthen regional stability amid evolving security challenges in Europe, Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
Speaking during a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart, Hanno Pevkur, Kosiniak-Kamysz said that both ministries had been given two months to finalise the document and expressed hope that the agreement could be signed as early as May 21, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.
He also noted that the previous agreement between the two countries was signed in 2012 and that the security landscape in Europe has significantly changed since then.
The ministers also discussed plans for joint military exercises in 2026, including the participation of Estonian forces in Poland’s Brave Huzar exercises. In addition, they exchanged views on the ongoing situation in Ukraine and developments in the Middle East.
