Poland identifies Russia’s key trump card in potential war

Russia would have a significant advantage in the event of a war with Poland, but would likely struggle to use it, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said.

As reported by Polish media, Sikorski was commenting on remarks by Russian presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev, who claimed that Russia could destroy Poland within “2–3 days” in the event of a military conflict.

Sikorski noted that Russian generals had been threatening Poland with nuclear war for decades, while “representatives of the Kremlin do it continuously.” At the same time, the minister acknowledged that nuclear weapons are one of Russia’s key advantages and give it a significant edge.

“As Russia has learned from the example of Ukraine, this advantage is difficult to use. If Russia could resolve this war through nuclear blackmail, it would have already done so,” the Polish foreign minister said
