Poland warns of scammers selling free safety guides
Poland’s Interior Ministry and police have issued a warning over fraud attempts linked to a widely distributed safety booklet that has been delivered to households across the country this winter.
Individuals posing as distributors of the publication, titled Safety Guide, have allegedly attempted to gain entry into homes or demand money and personal information from residents, Caliber.Az reports via Polish media.
Authorities have urged the public to report any such visits, stressing that no one is authorised to request payment, personal data or access to private property under the pretext of distributing the guide. Officials also reiterated that the booklet is provided free of charge.
The printed Safety Guide began to be distributed to homes across Poland between December 2025 and January 2026, primarily through postal delivery. However, the initiative has reportedly been exploited by opportunists seeking to profit from the publication.
Publication reports that online listings have appeared offering the guide for sale, with some copies reportedly priced at up to 1,000 zloty (around $280).
