Polish FM: Pandemic has shown importance of urban development for comfortable living

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, UN-HABITAT Executive Director Maimuna Mohd Sharif, Katowice Mayor Marcin Krupa and other officials attended the opening of the 11th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF11).

According to Report, this prestigious international conference, which is organized by the UN Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), is devoted to the development of cities and human settlements.

A film about the history and development of Katowice, one of the centers of the Polish coal industry, was presented to the forum participants.

Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland, spoke about the necessity to develop cities as comfortable places for people. According to him, two years of the pandemic have shown how urgent this issue is.

"Cities are the center of development, but it is cities that have become the place where Covid 19 spreads," Morawiecki said.
