Trump proposes legally prosecuting billionaire Soros for supporting protests in US

27 August 2025 20:11

US President Donald Trump has called for Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros and his “leftist-radical son” to be held accountable under the RICO Act for supporting violent protests across the country.

According to a statement issued by Trump on his Truth Social platform, the actions of Soros and his group of radicals are causing significant harm to the country, Caliber.Az reports.

"George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America. We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to 'BREATHE,' and be FREE," his statement reads.

Trump accuses Soros and his "group of psychopaths" of having caused great damage to the United States, issuing a warning to the billionaire that he was "watching" them.

The RICO Act (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act), passed in 1970, allows individuals and organizations systematically involved in criminal activity to be prosecuted. Originally aimed at the mafia, it later came to be applied to other forms of organized crime as well.

Trump and Soros have had a tumultuous relationship as the MAGA leader has accused the billionaire of influencing prosecutors and protests to target against his policies. While Soros and his foundations have repeatedly claimed that their focus is solely on democracy and human rights advocacy, such accusations of meddling in their internal affairs have been echoed in other countries as well.

The public hit against Soros comes as Trump weighs signing an executive order that would ban American nonprofit organizations from issuing grant money to overseas. The new ruling would have a heavy impact on left-wing billionaire Soros' ventures as his organizations fund many projects abroad. Some of the other largest NGO's that this would affect are owned by Microsoft's Bill Gates and Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg.
