Political analyst: First Armenia must have border for CSTO to protect it
Editor-in-chief of the Regnum news agency, pro-Armenian political analyst Modest Kolerov has said that Secretary of the Armenian Security Council Armen Grigoryan has expressed dissatisfaction with the reaction of the Collective Security Council Organisation (CSTO), and he is right.
“If you want the CSTO to help protect your border, you must first have this border. It does not officially exist, it is not marked, and Armenia itself has recognised this problem,” Kolerov said in an interview with the Armenian media, according to Caliber.Az.
“Moreover, the majority of the CSTO member states support Azerbaijan. This is Armenia’s main disadvantage. The decision is made in the CSTO by consensus, and Azerbaijan is supported according to it. The CSTO will not interfere,” he said.
The political analyst said that the second disadvantage is that at this moment the conflict among the CSTO members is underway and no one has helped.
He expressed surprise at Iran's congratulations to Baku on the liberation of the occupied territories in 2020.
“This is a very bad sign because it means that Iran has ceased to maintain a balance in relations. There is no hope for Iran. Iran said that it was against changing the border, but this is a weak statement, as the border can formally be preserved, and the corridor will be extraterritorial,” the historian added.
