Politico: China's former foreign minister committed suicide or died of torture

Former Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, who resigned in July 2023 and did not appear in public for several months, may have committed suicide or died of torture.

The media says that Qin Gang was in a hospital in Beijing and, according to some reports, could have died of torture, the American edition of Politico, citing a source close to top officials in China.

The version of suicide is not excluded. No official reaction from the Chinese authorities to this information was published.

Qin Gang was last seen in public on June 25 - during a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko in Beijing. On the same day, the Chinese minister met with his counterparts from Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
