Brazil’s Ronaldo calls Messi greatest footballer of all time
Two-time World Cup winner with Brazil, Ronaldo Nazario, has described Argentina captain Lionel Messi as the greatest footballer of all time.
He said every time Messi steps onto the pitch, everything else becomes historic and elegant, Caliber.Az reports, citing Mundo Deportivo.
"It is time for the world to stop hiding and accept that he is the greatest player of all time,” he noted.
The statement came after a match against Algeria in which Messi scored a hat-trick just a week before his 39th birthday.
The result saw him overtake Ronaldo in the list of all-time World Cup top scorers and move level with Miroslav Klose, with both now on 16 goals.
Ronaldo also noted that records are meant to be broken and pointed out that Argentina remain the reigning world champions.
