Poll: Trump’s agenda sparks concern across America with Republicans among skeptics

27 April 2025 13:11

A recent poll reveals widespread discontent among Americans with President Trump's aggressive push to implement his agenda, with even Republicans expressing concerns over his priorities.

The survey shows that Americans are nearly twice as likely to believe Trump has focused on the wrong priorities as opposed to the right ones, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

Nearly 40 per cent of respondents rate his presidency as "terrible" during his second term, with another 10 per cent saying it has been "poor." However, around 30 per cent consider his presidency to be "great" or "good," and just under 20 per cent describe it as "average."

Although 70 per cent of Americans say Trump’s first 100 days were mostly as expected, this does not indicate widespread approval. Democrats, in particular, are more dissatisfied than before Trump’s inauguration. Three-quarters of Democrats believe he is focusing on the wrong issues, and approximately 70 per cent view his presidency as “terrible,” up from 60 per cent in January.

Rahsaan Henderson, a California Democrat, called the first 100 days "one of the longest" of his life, expressing concern about Trump's defiance of institutions like the Supreme Court. Republicans largely support Trump, with 70 per cent rating him as at least a "good" president, but many are uncertain about his focus. Only half believe his priorities have been right, while 25 per cent feel his focus has been mixed, and 10 per cent say his priorities have been wrong. Tanner Bergstrom, a Republican from Minnesota, acknowledged Trump’s consistency, saying, “He’s really doing the stuff that he said he was going to do.”

The poll also found that 40 per cent of Americans approve of Trump’s overall presidency, with immigration being a notable strength. However, his approval on foreign policy, trade, and the economy is much lower, with only 40 per cent of Americans approving of his handling of these areas. The AP-NORC poll, conducted April 17-21, surveyed 1,260 adults, with a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points.
