Kremlin: Putin to meet US envoy on December 2 for Russia-Ukraine peace talks

01 December 2025 15:59

The Kremlin has officially confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet with US special envoy Steve Witkoff on December 2, to discuss potential terms for a peace agreement aimed at ending the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the meeting is set to take place in the afternoon, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“The meeting with Whitkoff is planned for tomorrow. He himself confirmed this… The president will have several closed-door meetings today in preparation for the Russia-US contacts,” Peskov said.

According to earlier reports from US media, Witkoff is expected to arrive in Moscow on December 1, accompanied possibly by Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, to conduct preliminary discussions ahead of the Kremlin talks.

Earlier, a Kremlin spokesperson indicated that, prior to the arrival of the US delegation in Moscow, Russian officials anticipate obtaining more comprehensive details regarding the components of the peace plan that have been negotiated with Kyiv.

“We are receiving certain elements that are currently being coordinated. By the time next week’s meeting takes place between President Putin and the visiting delegation, we will be in possession of information on the issues that, so to speak, have been deliberated and mutually agreed upon,” he stated in an interview with Russian media.
