Qatar, Egypt discuss regional de-escalation efforts
Qatar and Egypt have discussed regional developments and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, according to a statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held a telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, during which the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and explored ways to strengthen cooperation.
They also discussed the latest regional developments, with a particular focus on ongoing diplomatic initiatives and joint coordination aimed at de-escalation, enhancing security and promoting stability across the region.
During the call, Al Thani stressed the need for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy and to implement agreements reached under the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. He highlighted the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as a means of maintaining regional security, preserving recent gains and supporting broader stability.
Al Thani also reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for efforts to defuse tensions and reach a comprehensive agreement that would deliver sustainable peace in the region.
