Romanian president: Azerbaijan's green energy potential - high

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has said that the agreement on strategic partnership in the development and supply of green energy among the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary is an important and ambitious document that will make a significant contribution to strengthening European energy security and will promote cooperation in the region.

President Iohannis made the remarks at the plenary meeting in Bucharest on December 17 in connection with the signing ceremony of this agreement, Report informs.

“Taking into account the current security situation due to military aggression against Ukraine, we should cooperate more actively and show more solidarity to overcome the current obstacles. This agreement is the basis for long-term cooperation between our countries in a number of very important spheres. This is an ambitious agreement demonstrating that together we can make a great contribution to strengthening European energy security, it will contribute to the sustainable development of cooperation in the region,” the president said.

He stressed the importance of developing green energy.

“The potential for green energy in the Caspian region, especially in Azerbaijan, is high,” the president added.
The president noted that the laying of a submarine cable along the bottom of the Black Sea would be the next step.
“We also want to increase maritime transportation from Constanta to Georgia. These efforts will also strengthen ties with Azerbaijan and Central Asia,” he added.
